Welcome to the Big Bend Chapter of the Paralegals Association of
Tallahassee, Florida, our State's capital city, and serves six north Florida counties, Leon,
Gadsden, Liberty, Wakulla, Jefferson and Franklin. Luncheon meetings are held on the
second Thursday of each month. Non-members and prospective members are encouraged to
attend. (Further information on meetings can be found on the 'Events' page of this web site.)
Speakers from various practice areas offer their knowledge and insight at each of these
meetings, as well as in one-day seminars offered by the Chapter. Chapter members are
provided a monthly newsletter, Headnotes, which provides interesting and informative
articles. Non-members may subscribe to Headnotes for $10/year.

Our Chapter meets at 12:00 noon on the 2nd Thursday of every month, at the Capital City
Country Club, 1601 Golf Terrace Drive (850-222-0419). Advance reservations are
required and can be made by contacting our Member at Large, Shalonda Hopkins, no later
than noon on the Monday before the meeting. Cost is $18.00 for Chapter Members, and $23.00
Fall 2014 Professional Development Scholarship
The Paralegal Association of Florida, Inc. (“PAF”) will award two (2) Professional
Development Scholarships to qualified applicants for the specific purpose of
encouraging members to attain the Certified Paralegal (“CP”) or the Advanced
Certified Paralegal (“ACP”) credential. The Professional Development
Scholarship is awarded to the recipient upon the presentation of proof of
payment and successful completion of the CP Exam or Advanced Paralegal
Certification (“APC”) Program. The application deadline is July 15, 2014. Per the
Guidelines, the winners will be notified by August 15, 2014.

Tallahassee Community College and Keiser University
The Chapter is fortunate to assist Tallahassee Community College (TCC) and Keiser
University (Keiser) with its legal assisting and paralegal studies programs. Members
are frequent lecturers and instructors within the programs. In addition, several Chapter
members sit on the Academic Advisory Boards of both TCC and Keiser.
Students participating in TCC’s legal assisting program and Keiser’s paralegal studies
program are eligible for the yearly scholarship(s) offered by the Big Bend Chapter. We
are pleased that scholarships are also available to eligible applicants enrolled in the
paralegal programs at Barry University.
